Join us at Access Arts for some rag weaving! The looms are warped and ready to weave placemats and table runners - a perfect made-with-love holiday gift. Starting Thursday, October 31, 4 to 6 pm, and continuing each Thursday, through December 12, we will hold informal rag weaving sessions. This will not be a structured class, although Jenny will be on hand to get you started, answer questions and troubleshoot problems. We have plenty of fabrics but you are also welcome to use your own. Sign up for a minimum of 2 classes, or as many as you wish, up to all 6. The fee for this special session is $15 per class or $90 for the entire 6 weeks. Please call the office (573-875-0275) to register and reserve the dates you wish to attend. Please note: there will not be a class on Thanksgiving Day.
The kids are back in school, so you know what they're doing most of the time now. But are you ready for those days when Columbia Public Schools don't have classes due to teacher collaboration and work days? We've got you covered! In response to the popularity of our Summer Camp Program, we are launching a new program: School’s Out.
School’s Out is a day camp program for school-age children. It will be offered on the days that Columbia Public Schools are closed (see list below). During the day, participating students will rotate between three different classrooms where they will complete three different art projects in various media (Ceramics, Fibers, and Mixed Media). Between the media blocks, they will have time to play both indoor and outdoor games and enjoy snacks.
Designed with working parents in mind, School’s Out provides a one- or multiple-day solution to the scheduling conflict caused by Teacher Work Days. School’s Out offers parents an affordable, safe alternative to daycare. Parents won’t have to scramble to find a sitter, use their vacation days to stay home from work, or face the option of leaving children home alone. Instead, they can know that their kids are learning new skills, being creative, and making new friends in a safe, supervised environment.
The rotating block schedule of School’s Out enables students to engage in a variety of creative learning experiences. Each day will have a different theme, and all projects created that day will relate to that theme. Since every day is different, students can participate in multiple days without getting bored or losing interest. Students will be grouped with others of similar age and development, and the art projects will be appropriate for their age and abilities.  Remaining dates for the program are:
|January 3, 2014
January 20, 2014
February 14, 2014
|February 17, 2014|
February 28, 2014
March 24-28, 2014 (Spring Break)
Choose your dates and call or e-mail the office to sign up today! The pricing options are:
One Day: $40 per child
Pick 4: Pick any 4 days of the program for a total cost of $120. (That’s buy 3, get the 4th day FREE!) (Full Payment must be made in advance.)
Spring Break Package: $160 per child (March 24-28, 2014).
We have lots of different things that volunteers can do, and a fairly flexible schedule as well. If you are interested, print out the Volunteer Application, fill it out and send it to us. We will contact you about the possibilities.
PLEASE NOTE: All classes require a non-refundable $30 deposit
