Breana Hendricks (she/they)

Bree Hendricks, is a ceramic artist from the Bronx, NY, holds an MFA in Studio Art from the Ohio State University. Her interest in pottery and figurative sculpture connects her to feminine craft traditions and how she processes her familial history. She explores making and altering Caribbean fruit and greenery to symbolize placelessness, reflecting time as an abstracted concept for preserving and artificializing histories. In 2017, Breana received the Windgate Fellowship Award to research traditions in utility at communities like Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Arrowmont School of Crafts. Before graduate school, she completed a two-year Westchester Community Foundation fellowship at Clay Art Center in Portchester, NY, teaching after school programs, weekend workshops, and community-building outdoor mosaic programs. She received her BFA in Studio Art from the State University of New York New Paltz in 2017. She looks forward to connecting with people through teaching and referencing ceramics histories to inspire new and exciting classroom projects.

Genevieve Kirk (she/her)

Genevieve is a 2 and 3-D artist currently focused on functional ceramic work with an emphasis on texture and carving. She utilizes swirling, detailed patterns as well as chunky faceting when carving.
Her functional forms are often globular and work with the carving and earthy glazes to create a lively, organic design. Genevieve is thrilled to be working with Access Arts to share her love of learning and creativity.

Victoria Lewandowski (she/her)

Victoria Lewandowski is a potter born in rural Wisconsin, who grew up in northeastern Indiana. Her work is inspired by the memory of her grandmother’s house growing up, characterized by an abundance of florals, lace, and fabric. Her pieces are wheel-thrown functional pots, altered both on and off the wheel. The pieces are warped and twisted, exaggerated in some areas and diminutive in others, to represent the haze of memory through which we are forced to view this inspiration. She primarily uses soda and wood firing to finish her work, allowing the harshness of the flame and the unpredictability of the atmosphere to mimic the weathering of time. Victoria received her BFA from Purdue University Fort Wayne and completed a post-baccalaureate at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Sofia Ortega (they/he)

Sofia Ortega (b. 2003) has a BA in Digital Storytelling with a minor in Art from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Born in Michigan to Venezuelan parents, they have always been attracted to the colors, textures, and imagery in their culture found throughout their memories and within archived childhood. Ortega has grown up around women who have sewn, embroidered, and done several other forms of fiber art since a young age. The bond created through the generational passing of these basic skills has since inspired Ortega, along with the feeling of disconnect from having roots in one country but living in another. The contrast between the two cultures inspires them and is apparent in their work. Ortega is based in Columbia, Missouri and has been the recipient of an Award of Merit for Artistic Expression from the Visual Arts and Design Showcase as well as an Outstanding Student Award from the Surface Design association. They also spent a year with the ASH Scholars: Art of Death team at the University of Missouri-Columbia who won an Award for Artistic Expression at Show Me Research week. Ortega has exhibited work for Columbia Art League, Ellis Library, the University of Iowa, Show Me Research Week, and Digital Graffiti in Alys Beach, FL. Mixing digital media, textile, and printing techniques, their work is a testament to their lived experience and oral history being stitched together across various mediums. The limitless possibility found in printmaking, fibers, and video art allows them to express distant memories and convey a visceral human experience.

Florencia Piriz (they/them)

Florencia Piriz is a ceramic artist based in California. They earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Ceramics from Northern Arizona University, followed by a residency at the Cub Creek Foundation in 2024. Their studio practice reflects a deep engagement with natural materials and process-based exploration in a multitude of media. Florencia’s ceramic practice is rooted in themes of joy, simplicity, individuality, and nature. They work with a range of clay bodies, from coarse and wild to fine porcelain, to create pieces that strike a balance between rawness and refinement. Their process is deeply informed by atmospheric firings which introduce fire and ash as creative agents that leave behind unique, unrepeatable surfaces. This collaboration with elemental forces forms the heart of their work, driven by an enduring fascination with the dialogue between earth, fire, and form.

Campbell Smith (he/they)

Campbell uses a combination of wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics to explore the natural world. His work explores this theme using an almost excess of texture to create the look and feeling of the natural world. Inspired by his time in the pacific northwest and being exposed to a plethora of different environments. His work also explores different firing techniques and natural materials to elicit the natural world.
